‘…writing on art replaces presence by absence by substituting the abstraction of language for the real thing.’

Louise Bourgeois

Crouching Spider, 2003

"I came from a family of repairers. The spider is a repairer. If you bash into the web of a spider, she doesn't get mad. She weaves and repairs it." Louise Bourgeois

Louise Bourgeois has been a favourite artist of mine for a long time now and to finally see one of her amazing spiders in the flesh was beyond the imagined beyond...and to see it in a quiet room, alone and free of a crowded outdoor public space was sublime. Located on the top floor of Dia, hidden in a corner space seemed like an apt position for the presence of such a creature.
